At the practice of Michael Atencio, D.D.S., our experienced professionals and well-trained staff understand the importance of family. We welcome our patients the way we would welcome our own family members. Our warm and caring approach is complemented by our extensive training and experience, providing patients with the exceptional care they deserve.

Michael A. Atencio, D.D.S.

An outstanding cosmetic and restorative dentist in the Reno/Tahoe area, Dr. Atencio prides himself on putting patients at ease with his gentle touch and concern for their well being. An undergraduate of Colorado State University, Dr. Atencio achieved his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Nebraska. He began practicing general dentistry in 1991 when he moved to Reno with his wife, Christy. Christy is also a graduate of the University of Nebraska, where she received her degree in dental hygiene, and is a native Nevadan.

As a proud member of the American Dental Association, Nevada Dental Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and Academy of Operative Dentistry, Dr. Atencio stays updated on the latest technology and skills needed to be a great dentist.

In addition to his work as a dentist, Dr. Atencio stays busy coaching his son, Cole, and twin daughters, Skylar and Sydney, in baseball and softball. Dr. Atencio also enjoys golfing, biking, swimming, snowboarding, and competing in triathlons.

Ligia Angeles, Office Manager

Ligia's extreme versatility is the main reason our office runs so smoothly. With her extensive knowledge of dentistry, she manages everything from insurance questions to helping you with any scheduling needs. Ligia has a special talent for staying calm under pressure while keeping a beautiful smile on her face. But don't let her smile fool you, she recently joined the Reno Roller Girls in 2009 and has been bumping and knocking girls down ever since! She has been an invaluable addition to our staff since 2004, when she and her family moved to Reno from the Bay Area. In between derby practices, she enjoys spending time with her four kids at baseball practice and quality time with her husband.

Laurie Hadwick, R.D.H

Laurie has been with our office since 2000.  As a graduate of Cabrillo College near Santa Cruz, California, Laurie is a knowledgeable and very accomplished Dental Hygienist.  She is sociable, interactive, and full of energy. Focused on overall health, she enjoys yoga, soccer, reading and snowboarding to keep her mind and body balanced. On her time off she stays busy with her two little girls and her husband. Laurie is an asset to our practice with her knowledge and confidence in her work and her ability to place patients at ease.  All of her patients enjoy their visits to the dentist due to her wonderful personality and skill.

Martine Milton, R.D.H.

With a down to earth personality, Martine has become a valued weekly asset to our office. Her gentle touch and kind personality presents a relaxing atmosphere to her patients and team members. She is from San Jose, California and she too received her degree at Cabrillo College with Laurie in 2000.  In her spare time, Martine enjoys participating in outdoor activities with her husband and two kids. We are extremely proud in her recent accomplishment in finishing her first full Iron Man in Arizona in November of 2009.

Shay Robles, Dental Assistant

Shay is an experienced dental assistant who has a calming influence and a quiet sense of confidence.  She has been in the field for nine years and has been a part of our dental team since 2008.  She moved to Reno thirteen years ago from Chino, California and enjoys the fun outdoor activities that Reno has to offer.  She has her dental assisting license, is x-ray certified, is current on all OSHA standards and is a licensed phlebotomist.  The main reason Shay chose a career in the dental field is because she loves taking care of others, which explains her comforting personality that eases our patients. Shay loves spending her time with her husband and her two boys at their sporting activities.

Laura Teran, Scheduling Coordinator/ Dental Assistant

Laura is our newest addition to our team and is the first person to greet you when you come into our office.  She keeps the front desk and back office running smoothly by assisting patients from scheduling to comforting patients in the operatories. She is well verse in all dental procedures and is current with all OSHA standards and training. Laura graduated from University of Nevada in 2009 with a Bachelors degree in Public Health Science and is currently working towards her nursing degree.  In her spare time she likes to hike, train for marathons, snowboard, travel the world and spend time with her loved ones, especially her adorable Golden Retriever Logan.
